Sooo little Charlotte over here went shopping and yes everything is black or if we’re being technical black and grey which I mean is okay right? It’s winter. I’d like to say I needed these pieces but that would be a complete lie, my wardrobe is about to explode…oops!

Something that may or may not have caught your attention is these amazingly beautiful Nike Air Force 1 trainers which I have been looking for since before christmas. I’m not joking when I say this, I was looking online every day to find them in my size. That makes me sound like a crazy obsessive girl but honestly these have been in my wish list for a long time. I am a trainer girl and believe it or not do not own a black pair which is why these are needed. I’ve worn them once so far and I’m in LOVE. Well worth the wait!

Being a girl who is always cold and as I am writing this is sat here with a piglet hot water bottle, I’m always on the hunt for layering pieces. I always look for layering pieces which I can transition into different seasons as I like to be able to wear the majority of my clothes most of the year. The grey top is a textured long sleeve top from Zara which is slightly oversized (buy here) and the black thin jumper is kinda edgy I guess, its got curled hems which are a bit rustic and is from H&M. Both I am sure will be featured on my Instagram as well as on my blog in the near future, keep you’re eyes peeled.

My last little purchase, for the moment anyways, is this beaut black scarf from H&M which is so soft and cosy. I have wanted a plain scarf for a while as the two I already own both contain patterns. This is exactly what I was looking for as it will go with everything and the best part is that it only cost me £4. Im a happy chappy thats for sure.

Keep a look out for more posts to come this month

It’s A New Year, It’s 2016

It’s 2016 and boy have I got an exciting, maybe slightly stressful, year ahead of me. I wanted to share these exciting moments to come as I am optimistic that it’s going to be a good year.

I guess the first thing to start with is the fact that this girl right here is turning 21 in March. I know you’re probably reading this thinking wait what she’s 20, I thought she was 18. I am indeed one of those girls who has a baby face and will get ID’d until there 30 but I mean you’ve just got to take that as a compliment. I am really looking forward to the celebrations, however I have to go to uni on my birthday which isn’t so fabulous.

The most important and exciting part of this year is that I am graduating uni and will, hopefully fingers crossed, have a job by the end of the year but I have to actually do my work and graduate first before I can even think about that. The scariest part is that the project which I have just begun, will be handed in 4 months. Yep 4 months and I’ve literally just started researching. I’m not sure I am quite ready but determined to work hard. I love to share the work I create and the final outcomes. I will be sure to share my final project with you as it’s going to be heavily styling  and menswear based which I hope will be of interest to you. This girl loves clothes, I even fall in love with the menswear pieces I pick out. If you know me personally, you’ll know that clothes are like drugs to me. Can not get enough.

As I said before I will hopefully have a job by the end of this year which terrifies me to death but I am also incredibly excited. I am determined to get a job which I enjoy enough to want to get up at 6 in the morning everyday.

The last big event that is happening this year of which I know is set in stone, Is the fact that my sister is going travelling in Australia for a year. I am so excited for her as I would never have the guts to go the other side of the world by myself. It’s going to be sad though as I will be moving back home and then not long after she’ll be jetting off to paradise. It’s going to be weird living at home and having to get used to the fact she won’t be there. However, these things happen and I would never be selfish enough to make her stay.

This year is a big one for me and I am really excited for whats to come. These are just the moments set in stone. Who knows what else is going to happen but I am looking forward to finding out!

Happy New Year to all of you and I hope you are feeling optimistic about the year ahead of you!

Christmas has got to be my favourite time of the year, I love the idea of having a tradition that stays the same every single year. The tradition in my family is to have family time with my parents and my sister in the morning and then in the afternoon we congregate at my Aunties beautiful barn conversion. I never get to see my family, Mainly because all my cousins are older and busy with their own lives, Thats why i love christmas so much. It’s always a bundle of laughs. This year was extra special as my cousin had a baby girl back in May and she is literally adorable. Had so much fun playing around with her, safe to say I’m definitely no where near ready for a baby. Boy is she hard work. I wanted to share with you some of the moments I captured this christmas. I hope you had a great christmas or festive period and enjoyed spending time with your loved ones.

Summer Project Film

Over the summer, i began working on a summer project which would lead me into my third year at uni. We were asked to make a video based on an area of fashion we are looking to specialise in. The video had to show your research and what you found out from that area. I chose to do Notion Magazine as i love the idea of music and fashion mixed together. Im also a communication student so no way was i doing a fashion designer. I based my film around a quote i found amongst this magazine which just so happens to be by the founder of the magazine. I filmed the whole thing on my iPhone (apart from the snippets of me). Im pretty happy with the outcome and I got really good feed back from this and because of that i wanted to share it.

I hope you enjoy

My Experience In The Fashion Industry So Far

Photos – Taken by me during the photoshoot

Styling has always been something i have been interested in but theres always been someone else that wanted to do it and got the opportunities i could never find. In all honesty it put me off it a little as i felt like i would never be good enough for it and some else would always get there first. After all it’s a difficult business to be in and its very easy to chose the simple route.

I began my experience interning at Cube PR Company of which i did for 2 months. It was a really enjoyable 2 months and gave me an insight into working full time as well as learning more about the fashion industry. At the time i wasn’t quite sure if PR was something i enjoyed but after helping out with the Serge De Nimes AW15 event, the social side of PR won me over and its a definite career possibility for the future. Not only did i enjoy it, i have also now gained relationships and contacts that i will be able to use throughout my third year and after i graduate.

Since doing this internship, my eyes have been opened to the fashion industry and you’re only as good as the experience you have. Realistically it doesn’t matter what you get out of your fashion degree, you won’t get a decent job without having some experience under your belt. I suppose in a way having this knowledge has pushed me to want to gain more experience, even if you do have to get up at ridiculous o’clock in the morning to get to London.

Gaining experience isn’t cheap and you have to be prepared to spend the money if you’re wanting a career in fashion. Even though i haven’t got a huge amount of experience its better than nothing and i am one step ahead of those who haven’t  got any and say they can’t afford it. If you want it, you’ll find a way to afford it. At the end of the day you have to be able to afford it after university which in the long run could even cost you more. Everyone i’ve met within the industry hasn’t got where they are from just being lucky, they’ve worked hard and it hasn’t been a cheap ride. I personally think its something people should know about the the fashion industry and when your tutor says ‘you won’t get a job without experience’ she really means it. Even if she is annoying the crap out of you for saying every tutorial.

Using the contacts i have made through the lovely people that work at Cube Company, i have managed to have to opportunity to work with a stylist on a photoshoot. From receiving samples and checking them off to the photoshoot itself and returning the samples to various PR companies. It was an intense 3 days but i learnt a lot about what happens after the PR company sends out the samples and just exactly what the stylist does with them. Both fashion experiences have been menswear and i never thought id find menswear so interesting and enjoyable. I mean it hasn’t stopped me wanting the clothes featured in the shoot. There was the most amazing red shearling burberry coat which was to die for and look beautiful on the model. I for sure wanted that coat in my wardrobe.

Its opened my eyes to the world of mens fashion and how they’re are men out there that are interested in fashion. There’s so many different trends that suit a certain type of man and i love the fact there is so much room to experiment with a man’s look.

Im keeping my eyes peeled for future opportunities and using the contacts i have made to hopefully help me out in the future. Overall, Menswear is an area I’m planning to go into. I still don’t know if PR or styling is the area i want to go into so I’m keeping my options open for now and just going to wait and see what happens. I mean i’ve got to get through third year first,  now thats going to be a task and a half

Top & Jeans – Topshop | Bag – H&M | Watch – Casio | Sunnies – Quay Australia | Boots – Topshop (old)

This look is channeling my inner model of duty which is a look i love to create. This bardot top is perfect for adding a feminine touch to a simple outfit and shows off one of my favourite parts of the body, the collar bone.

Teaming the look with a pair of heeled boots gives a more dressed up look but a pair of sandals would work equally as well.

Let me know what you think!

Palm Tree-sers

I’ve been a lover of patterned trousers for a while now but i very rarely find them to fit and give the look i like. The jogger style look works best with my tiny waist, this is why these trousers have taken up a spot in my wardrobe.

These are such a versatile piece, this is a dressier look but change the heels for a pair of trainers and chuck on a thin knit jumper or t shirt and you’ve got a casual look for the day time. A perfect transitioning piece for not only day to night but summer to winter.

Intern Round Up

Over the last 2 months i have been under going an Internship at Cube PR, it has now come to an end and i thought i would share my experience with you beauts.

If you study fashion or work in it, you’ll know the fashion industry isn’t the easiest thing to get into. It involes a lot of determination, time and internships to get even just a job in something fashion. In order for me to even attempt to get a job at a company of choice, fashion experience is key. More so to show that you know how to react to a working environment than anything else. Interning is just apart of it and you have to be prepared to work for free for months before a job comes about.

I learnt a huge amount at Cube PR from sample management to writing a press release. Experience that i hope to take to many of the future jobs i hope to get.

Working in PR is defiantly something I’m considering as a potential job after uni but the one passion of mine, which I’ve had for a long time, is styling. My next step to gaining experience is hopefully helping out a stylist. Mainly to see if i like styling but also because its something i have always wanted to do.

If you have any questions about my internship, feel free to comment or email and ill be happy to help you all out
